BLACK SWAN, with its plum bow, and sleek sheer line is an impressive, professionally-maintained yacht. Built by its original owner in 2007, custom outfitted and commissioned in 2009 by a professional yacht manager, this semi-custom composite hull is truly one of one.
Saga Yachts developed the 409 in 2004 with legendary naval architect Tony Castro, one of the world’s foremost custom yacht designers. Their intention was to create a sportier, light weight coastal cruiser. This was a departure from the long line of blue water passage making yachts which Saga is best known.
To achieve higher performance Saga implemented light-weight composite materials with a revolutionary kevlar, balsa & resin-infusion building technique. A shallow wing keel and long waterline keeps displacement low and fast. For added weight savings the owner outfitted the vessel as bare as needed for day cruising. Instead of a generator, many of the ship’s systems are 12V DC with a robust charging system and large 880Ah battery bank. Replacing the massive standard-option steel tubular radar arch for custom bow & stern pulpits also provided significant weight savings. The result is a yacht which can sail upwind at 9kts flying the main and furling headsail. When your day is done, simply motor into the harbor and drop the fully battened main into the slick and easy Stackpak.
Topsides and cabin top receive routine buff & wax. Monthly dive service and routine wash down. Owner hauls for bottom paint bi-annually. Yanmar serviced annually by local certified mechanic. Original commissioning docs, receipts and current service records furnished upon request.
